Sun Protection for Your Lips
Lips are affected by the sun too. The importance of SPF lip care.
Why should lips be protected from the sun?
The skin on the lips is thinner than on other parts of the body and contains less melanin (the colour pigment). This makes it more vulnerable to the sun's harmful rays.
When left unprotected and exposed to the sun for a long time, lips can become dry and sensitive and, in the long run, damaged.
What is SPF and why does it matter?
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates the protection a product provides against the sun's UVB rays. SPF lip care products help protect the lips from the damaging effects of the sun.
SPF 15 can be chosen for daily use, while higher protection factors such as SPF 30 are preferable for intensive outdoor activities.
Using it correctly
Apply SPF lip care before going out in the sun and reapply at intervals during prolonged sun exposure.
Protection is even more important in environments with increased reflection, such as the sea, snow and high altitudes.
